Central Board of Secondary Examination (CBSE) introduced three attempts limit cap on NEET-UG exam (Candidate can attempt NEET –UG exam three times only) in the year2017.
But as per the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare’s letter no. U.12023/16/2010-ME-II dated December 6, 2017, “There is no cap for the number of attempts” till further notice. Therefore, candidates can appear NEET-UG any number of times.
The problem started when CBSC issued a notification about NEET-UG upper age limit of 25 years, and the number of attempts a candidate can avail is restricted to three in the year 2017. The most concerned part was those previously attempted AIPMT are counted in the three permissible limit. This created confusion and anger among candidates.
Then as per the High court verdict, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued letter no. U.12023/16/2010-ME-II dated December 6, 2017, stated, “There is no cap for the number of attempts” till further notice as the issue is now with the Supreme Court.
